Today, Saturday 4th July, pubs are allowed to open in England. There are three pubs in Upper Village Road: The Dog and Partridge, the Carpenter's Arms and The Duke (formerly, and properly, The Duke's Head). The Duke has struggled for many years. It is now run by two genial Italian men. As we left for our Saturday walk, we noticed that the notice outside the Duke is slightly ambiguous.
We are not sure that the pub should be as friendly to Covid as it is to dogs.
